I'm in the Chicago area and have been a fan since 1980 and Boy. My husband wonders when I'm going to outgrow my teenage years with my U2 and Bruce Springsteen obsessions. I've told him if I ever do, just throw the dirt on me. Our teenage son thinks I'm wasting money on concerts and actually buying music. I don't know where I went wrong with him and appreciating good music. When he was younger and still under my influence he liked U2 and loved Edge's guitar style. He then took guitar lessons for 4 years and I thought, aaah yes, I'm going to have a child who's a musician. The guitar has sat collecting dust for 3 years now, since he discovered Gangsta Rap (good grief, that's music?)
Being half Irish I always wanted to visit Ireland, and I did, back in 1985. I loved it and didn't want to leave. I remember talking to two girls on a beach in County Donegal and one of them asked me if I knew who U2 were. I enthusiastically replied I LOVE U2! She was a little surprised I knew who they were and she got a huge smile on her face. We then talked for about 10 minutes about just U2. I made it a mission back in the early 80s to introduce U2 to people I knew. I was successful with many people who are still fans today. U2 fans are different breed of people. We're intelligent, socially aware, friendly and very giving. We're the best!
